After spending many years as a health professional, and a very long battle with infertility – I finally fell pregnant with my first child. After the initial elation – came some very real fears on how my health and body would withstand pregnancy and becoming a new mum.
And yet, the specific support I needed, just wasn’t there.
It was about two weeks after the birth of my second child, that I began writing about my journey of becoming a two-time mum after infertility. It began as therapy for myself, as a way of processing my experiences. Being dyslexic, I never imagined writing a book – and yet, that’s what I ended up doing.
My therapeutic writing simply took shape with a mission to help other women who might be in the same position as I was.
I started to realise that the journey I’d been through and the things that I had learnt along the way could actually be helpful to other pregnant women and their families.
By the end of writing Pregnancy After Infertility, I had the strong urge to take things further by doing more in my local community and supporting causes such as PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia). Which then, led me to create several support programs to go with the book – for both women with the PAIF Safe Circles and health professionals with the PAIF Professional Mentoring Program.
I’m now a proud Author, Speaker, Passionate Mum, Fertility, Pregnancy and New Mumma Advocate.
I have an extensive background in health services plus the lived experience of infertility, and pregnancy after infertility. As this is such a specialised area with only a small group of us in this position, it can make it difficult for women to access the right support.
I’m a huge advocate for providing women and families with the specialised insights and knowledge they need to not just survive their pregnancies and the arrival of their new bundle of joy – but to absolutely thrive.
So that their pregnancies are filled full of the excitement and happiness that they so deserve, without the looming fear and unanswered questions that can seem so very daunting.
That way, the health outcomes for both women and their children – both mentally and physically – can be drastically improved.
